Here are some helpful tips and travel information to experience the best of our Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta resort, from restaurant and spa reservations to dress codes. 


Q: What is the distance to town from the resort?

A: Downtown Puerto Vallarta is 2 miles or 2.3 KM, about a five-minute cab ride, from our resort.


Q: Is pre arrival check-in available?

A: No, we do not offer pre-arrival check-in. Please contact us for any special requests before check-in.


Q: Can we use our country’s standard currency or do we need to convert to pesos at the airport? What is recommended?

A: You can use U.S. and/or Canadian dollars at the property. You can also convert your currency at the airport, a bank or an exchange house.


Q: Is money necessary for anything on property?

A: Yes, you will need it to pay for services not included, such as spa and beauty salon services, gift shop purchases, tours, upgrades, wine or liquor by the bottle, babysitting services, laundry and dry cleaning services, photography and additional gratuities. Cash and credit cards are accepted.


Q: What is the smoking policy?

A: There are designated outdoor areas for guests who smoke. The rest of the property is smoke-free.


Q: Are pets allowed at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta?

A: No, pets are not allowed at any Hyatt Zilara or Hyatt Ziva property. 


Q: What types of beer are available?

A: Draft beer, XX Lager and XX Ambar and Sol are available in all of the bars. Guestrooms are stocked with Tecate and Tecate Light. Heineken Light in a bottle is only served at specialty restaurants.


Q: I am traveling in a large group, how can I ensure our rooms will be close by to each other?

A: Assignment of rooms is subject to availability upon check-in.


Q: Upon arrival, can I upgrade my room?

A: Yes, but it is subject to availability. Additional fees may apply, except for Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond members.


Q: Is the resort wheelchair accessible?

A: Most areas in the resort are wheelchair accessible. Two restaurants are not. We have 3 accessible rooms, two Hyatt Ziva Terrace and one Ziva Club Ocean View Suite King.


Q: Is it possible to mail items that we purchased back home?

A: It depends on the items, as some restrictions apply due to Custom regulations. Additional fees apply.


Q: What laundry and dry cleaning services are available? Can I do laundry myself? What is the cost?

A: Laundry and dry cleaning service is available at an additional cost and varies based on garments needing cleaning.


Q: Does the hotel provide accommodations for people with severe food allergies (gluten free, dairy free)? If so, does the hotel need to be notified ahead of time?

A: Yes, we ask to be notified ahead of time. We have standards and procedures in place for each case of food allergy or dietary requirements.


Q: Does the resort have options for vegetarians and gluten-free diets?

A: Yes. There are vegetarian options in all of our restaurants and we can also customize specific requirements upon request. We also have options for gluten free at our gourmet buffets. 


Q: Are their age requirements for entering bars on property?

A: Yes, you must be 18 years and older to enter our bars.


Q: Does the resort offer day passes?

A: Yes, and these are subject to availability. The fees are as follows: 

  • Day Pass (9AM – 5PM): Adults- USD $65 | Kids- USD $45
  • Night Pass (6PM – 12AM): Adults- USD $65 | Kids- USD $45
  • Full Pass (11AM – 11PM): Adults- USD $95 | Kids- USD $65

These prices are subject to change at the discretion of the property, at any time.


Q: Does the hotel provide shuttles or transportation around the local area?

A: No; however, there is a taxi stand on our premises.


Q: Are cabanas available for rent?

A: Yes, we do have larger cabanas for rent daily. Please contact our concierge for pricing.  Palapas, (shaded palms with lounge chairs) are on a first come first serve basis.


Q: Do any of the restaurants close during certain times of the year?

A: All of our restaurants are open year-round. One or two restaurants may close at night during the week whenever there is a theme night. Please contact the hotel for details.


Q: What is the difference between an Ocean View and an Ocean Front room?

A: Ocean View rooms are located on floors 2 to 6. Ocean Front rooms are located on floors 7 to 10 and offer unobstructed views. Both categories are located at the Main tower.


Q: Is there an ATM at the hotel?

A: Yes, we have two ATMs, one located in the main lobby. One ATM dispenses pesos and the other dispenses USD.


Q: Which restaurants are recommended for large parties? Does group dining need to be planned in advance?

A: We welcome large parties at any of our restaurants; however, we do not take dining reservations. Service is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.


Q: Are there tours available? If so, what kind?

A: Tours included in the all-inclusive plan are the Jungle tour and Kayak tour. Guests may sign up at the Activities Center located by the main pool. 


Q: What is the difference between an activity and an excursion?

A: Activities are included in the all-inclusive plan such as games  and the Jungle and Kayak tours. Excursions are optional off-site activities at an additional charge.


Q: Can you book off-property excursions at the resort?

A: Yes, we have a tour agency offering a wide selection of tours and destinations, including: Outdoor Adventure, Las Caletas Beach Hideaway, Dolphin Adventure, Rhythms of the Night, and Marietas Eco Discovery. For questions or to book an excursion you may contact carlos.flores@hyatt.com. All these are subject to a fee.


Q: Are Spa treatments included? If not, what is the price and can they be booked in advance?

A: No, neither spa nor salon treatments are included. Prices range from a 50-minute massage at around US$115 to our 180-minute Signature Vitamar Journey for couples at around US$350. Treatments may be booked in advance, please call +52-322-226-5056 or email patricia.quintana@hyatt.com. You may also view the Spa site for additional information.

Q: Can I choose my room online?

A: No, you can only choose room and/or suite category online. Special requests are noted and confirmation is subject to availability upon arrival.


Q: Are the pools heated?

A: Yes, all pools are heated.


Q: Is there babysitting available? If so, is there a fee for babysitting?

A: Yes, babysitting service is available with a prior request. The fee per hour is US$15 per child. An additional charge of US$15 for transportation is charged after 8:00PM.

Q: Are there transportation options to and from the airport?

A: Yes, the resort provides round trip transfers through a third party and pricing varies. Guests may also take a regular taxi from the airport to the resort, and the one-way fare is from US$21 to US$25 in a small vehicle. The property is not responsible for the pricing of taxis, they are subject to change.


Q: Are there balconies in all rooms?

A: All Club tower rooms and suites have a balcony or a terrace (rooms on the ground floor). 50 rooms and all Suites at the Main Tower have a balcony.


Q: Are there any restaurants opened late at night?

A: Restaurants close at 10:30PM or 11:00PM. Room service is available 24/7, and the Deli Coffee Shop is open 24/7.


Q: Do you offer rates that are not all-inclusive?

A: No, the only rates we offer are all-inclusive.


Q: Do you have any unique offerings for birthdays, anniversaries and honeymoons?

A: Yes, we offer a welcome amenity on complimentary basis, which is a bottle of sparkling wine or a small cake for two. There are other options to enhance the celebration, subject to a fee, such as the romantic dinners for two and Spa treatments for couples.


Q: Does the resort have a swim-up bar?

A: Yes, we have a swim-up bar, Pool Bar.


Q: Does the resort offer top shelf liquor at every bar?

A: Yes, top shelf liquor is offered at every bar.


Q: What type of liquor is included within the rooms?

A: Rooms at the Main tower have a mini bar stocked with beer and soft drinks. Minibars in rooms at the Club tower are stocked with mini bottles of rum, tequila, vodka and Jack Daniels, in addition to beer.


Q: What types of vodka are offered on property?

A: Oso Negro, Smirnoff, Wiborowa, Absolut, Absolut Mandarin, Absolut Citron, Absolut Raspbery, Absolut Mango, Absolut Pepper, Finland and Stolichnaya are offered at the property.


Q: What are the dress code requirements?

A: Resort casual wear is required. No wet clothes, tank tops or flip-flops are allowed in the restaurants.


Q: Do you offer private dinners in-room or on the beach?

A: Yes, and we have special menus subject to an additional fee.


Q: What types of watersports are offered? 

A: We offer all-inclusive watersports, including kayak tours, snorkeling and boogie boarding. There are also off premises activities for a fee: jet skis, paddle boarding, kayaking and catamarans. There is a 20-minute ride by taxi to the Marina to catch the catamaran and jet skis. Catamarans last 7 hours and jet skis 2 hours.


Q: Are reservations needed for any of the restaurants on property? 

A: No, we do not take restaurant reservations and all restaurants are a first-come, first-serve basis.


Q: Do you offer photography on property? Would this need to be planned in advance?

A: Yes, we offer photography services within our premises through a third party and are subject to a fee. Arrangements can be made through the Concierge during your stay or prior to arrival.


Q: Are kids allowed at every restaurant? Are there any restrictions?

A: Children are welcome at every restaurant, and there are no restrictions. Our bars are restricted to adults aged 18 and over.
